Letters: Montco D.A. was wrong about the death of Skyler Kauffman

THE Daily News reported that 9-year-old Skyler Kauffman was viciously raped and murdered, allegedly at the hands of 24-year-old James Troutman, both of whom resided in the Souderton Garden Apartments.

THE

Daily News

reported that 9-year-old Skyler Kauffman was viciously raped and murdered, allegedly at the hands of 24-year-old James Troutman, both of whom resided in the Souderton Garden Apartments.

In the article, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman was quoted as saying: "There is nothing of significance that would have led anyone to suspect that this sort of act would be possible. This is one of those terribly disturbing situations that something happens seemingly out of nowhere."

Out of nowhere? D.A. Ferman cannot be serious! There was an incident just three weeks prior when Troutman allegedly lured this little girl into his apartment, locked the door behind her and threatened to expose himself to her. She narrowly escaped. Police were contacted, but, unfortunately, they did not charge Troutman with any crime.

For D.A. Ferman to suggest that this very, very tragic event happened "seemingly out of nowhere" was a slap in the face to Skyler Kauffman, her family and to the residents of Montgomery County!
