Parking insanity: Permit me to explain

I married a man who lives two blocks from the Stu Bykofsky column-featured FrancoLuigi’s, on 13th Street. Since I came from New Jersey, I had to get a new driver’s license, get my car loan company to cooperate in getting a new car registration — took two weeks — and change over my insurance before I could get a parking permit. Now my daughter is with us for the summer and she can’t get a parking permit because she has New Jersey tags. Frankly, she doesn’t want to go through all the red tape that I did, especially since she’ll be going to Maryland for school in the fall. She can buy a temporary permit for a month — only a month. We would gladly pay for her to be able to park within a few blocks for the summer. She currently has her car in her Dad’s driveway in New Jersey. I was hoping that she could get to work via public transit but the site is in an iffy area where we don’t want her walking to and from transit. This is a huge pain in the ass. We will have to drive her to and from work except for one month of the summer. Something has gotta give. Even the parking lot near us, between 12th and Passyunk, is by permit only.

Why not a lot for lease?

Why schools fail

Let's face it, there is a reason why certain schools fail and it isn't lack of money or teachers. It seems that all of the failing schools have one common denominator:When children are used as pay raises instead of the gifts that they are, the children or society doesn't stand a chance. I went to one of these "failing" schools as a child and it was a good school. Once the fabric of the neighborhood changed, so did the school. Now they will ship kids from these schools to schools that are performing just fine, to ruin them too. I feel like I'm being constantly bent over by the city for doing the right thing. Looks like I will be chased out of another neighborhood.

First things first

I am a long-time reader of the Daily News. Recently I have grown concerned about articles that are being put in the front of the newspaper and the news that winds up in the back of the newspaper. For example, why would an important article about the economy wind up on page 20 of the newspaper and an article about illegal motorcyles wind up in the front? I read your newspaper for the news that affects all of us, not for articles that to me are of no importance. I am finding that your newspaper is putting junk in the front and important news in the back. In particular, I was concerned about an article written by Dana DiFilippo regarding "White-knuckle ride on the back of ATV." I would like a response as to if this is going to continue, and if so, why?
