Letters: Oswald a tool of 'liberal left'?
Who killed President Kennedy? Lee Harvey Oswald, of course.
WHO killed President Kennedy? Lee Harvey Oswald, of course. All the evidence points to him, and no one else. Why then, after 50 years, are there still people who deny this fact?
Because Oswald was a Marxist, who supported Castro and defected to the Soviet Union, that's why. Oswald was a member of the liberal left, and the left has never been able to accept that one of their own was responsible for the death of the president. It was always easier to live in denial, and blame the assassination on a right-wing conspiracy, which simply never existed.
The left always believed Kennedy to be the iconic symbol of the Democrat Party, but this also is simply not true. In reality, JFK was a conservative, who believed in tax cuts, small government and a strong military. He hated communism, and opposed everything the Soviet Union stood for, as he demonstrated in his Berlin speech.
Liberal Democrats are desperate for a legacy, an iconic symbol that represents their party. But, they will have to look elsewhere - JFK clearly belongs to the conservative Republicans. The Democrats will have to look to Barack Obama, and his mounting debt, ever-increasing taxes and failed health-care system for their legacy.

Privatize 'em all
I see that PGW is going to be privatized by February 2014, and the city coffers will be filled with some much-needed cash.
Why stop there?
Why not Sanitation workers/Water Department/Fire Department/Police Department? I know that they are not in debt like PGW, but the pensions that they are to be paid equal PGW's debt, so it is relevant. They don't have the political juice like the rest of those departments.
I know we need jobs for our citizens, but our public workers have sweet perks as compared to the private sector. We can't fund our pensions because our tax-based high earners have left our city limits. We need to think outside the box.
What we need are the people who run the city Parking Authority to run things. They are the best-run department in the city, hands down. Just wish they would contribute more money to our schools.
