Museum offers two programs

The Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill will host a Caribbean Carnival and Open Arms: A Free Family Evening of Fun this weekend.

The Caribbean Carnival is scheduled during regular museum hours on Saturday and Sunday. It will allow visitors to explore Caribbean culture as part of the museum's multicultural salute program.

On Sunday, the museum will invite families of children with autism to participate in Open Arms from 6-8 p.m. The event, held in honor of the museum's long-time commitment to supporting those affected by autism, will feature activities for children, support for families, and information on resources and education.

Orchids for kids

Or-"Kid" Days are scheduled Saturday and again next weekend in conjunction with the Orchid Extravaganza at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square. Both days will offer music, crafts and the chance to learn about animal pollination from noon-3 p.m.

During this weekend's festivities, families can enjoy two performances by the musical duo Cathy and Marcy, as well as a live and preserved animal showcase from the Delaware Museum of Natural History.

Next Saturday's festivities will include entertainment by Yosi and the Superdads and an animal showcase and lessons by representatives from the Philadelphia Zoo.

Multicultural education

The International Club at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill will host its first annual International Festival from 7-9 tonight.

At the festival, guests will celebrate cultures around the world, including those practiced by Camden Catholic's diverse student body. The club will offer ethnic foods, art, and music.

Visitors will receive mock passports that they can have stamped with native messages at various stations representing countries such as Ecuador, Peru, England, Germany, India, and Ireland.
