Children and their parents can cook like Betsy Ross this weekend at the new "Kids' Kitchen" exhibit at the home of the historical flag maker.
Kids can use tools along with their imaginations to prepare meals just as Ross would have more than two centuries ago. After cooking, families can go to nearby City Tavern at Second and Walnut Streets to sample authentic 18th-century fare and ice cream treats.
The Betsy Ross House is also featuring in its current gallery "Heavens to Betsy! The Selling of an American Icon," a fun look at products sold over the centuries that used Betsy's name and likeness. Visitors can also enjoy the house's courtyard with the sights and sounds of colonial America, featuring storytelling by Once Upon a Nation and the History Makers, as citizens from the past tell their stories each afternoon.
