Eagles sign WR Bethel Johnson

The 28-year-old Johnson was a 2d round draft choice of New England in 2003 and went on to spend three years with the Patriots before being traded to New Orleans in 2006. He was released by the Saints prior to the start of the 2006 season and later signed with the Minnesota Vikings on October 10, 2006.

During his career, Johnson has caught 39 passes for 606 yards (a 15.5-yard average) and four touchdowns, while returning 147 kickoffs for 3,611 yards (a 24.6 average) and two touchdowns. In 11 games for the Vikings a year ago, Johnson caught 9 passes for 156 yards (a 17.3 average), while posting a 23.4-yard average on 45 kickoff returns.

With the Patriots, Johnson earned two Super Bowl championships following the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Johnson (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) is a native of Corsicana, Texas, and played at Texas A&M, where he left as the school's all-time leader in receptions (117) and yards (1,740).
