Rumblings in Big D after the Cowboys’ collapse
It did not take long for the Dallas media and Cowboys fans to sound off.
It did not take long for the Dallas media and Cowboys fans to sound off.
Immediately after the 'Boys fell from the playoffs yesterday in a 21-17 loss to the New York Giants, the howling began.
And that's not even counting the sobbing by Terrell Owens at the postgame news conference.
Here is what Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News had to say:
"Your Cowboys choked. They gagged. They coughed up a fur ball. Use whatever analogy you like, because they all apply. . . .
"We are required to scrutinize Wade Phillips and ask tough questions about whether he's capable of taking the Cowboys to the next level.
"This is not about fair or unfair. It's not about whether Phillips is a nice guy, because they don't come much better.
"This is about results.
"Phillips is 0-4 in the playoffs as a head coach."
Tim Cowlishaw of the Morning News was not easy on Cowboys QB Tony Romo, either:
"It was not a typical Romo performance. But it was, for all we know at this time, a typical Romo playoff performance.
"He defended his trip to Mexico by saying he thought it was better than going to Vegas and drinking for a few days.
"Didn't realize those were the only two options."
The Cowboys' faithful also had their say. Two postings from the fans' blog on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Web site:
"I blame Romo. His decision making was terrible - during the game and the week before when he decided to GO OUT OF THE COUNTRY before the biggest game of the year. Minimizing is the speciality of this head coach. That is why he is 0-4 in the playoffs."
"Horrible game. This franchise remains a post-Jimmy Johnson joke."
