BROAD STREET RUN REGISTRATION CLOSED
Three things we can guarantee:
-- You will not see snow on the ground on Sunday, May 1;
-- You will see 30,000 people running south through the city early that morning;
-- And, if you haven't registered for that day's Broad Street Run by now, you won't be one of them. Registration for the event is now closed.
If that disappoints you, then we suggest you write this date in your calendar: May 6, 2012, and be prepared to register early next January.

BLUE HENS DROP MEN'S VARSITY RUNNING PROGRAMS
The University of Delaware announced that its men's cross country and men's outdoor track and field programs will be reclassified as club teams and will no longer compete at the NCAA-sanctioned varsity level.
The school said it conducted a study that looked at a wide range of criteria, including compliance with Title IX and the principles of gender equity, roster sizes, history of competitive success, and donor impact.
The school said the decision will affect 38 student-athletes.
Coach Jim Fischer, who coached the men's teams will remain as women's cross country coach.
The number of varsity sports at Delaware will be reduced from 23 to 21 under the approved plan. Women's golf will begin to compete this year.
