CSN Philly gets new president

BRIAN MONIHAN has been named president of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

Monihan joined the network in 2009 as senior vice president and general manager.

"Brian is an experienced television executive whose leadership and operational skills have fortified Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia as the definitive voice for sports fans in the region," said Jon Litner, group president of NBC Sports Group. "During his tenure, the network has experienced strong growth, serving Philadelphia sports fans with award-winning game coverage and compelling digital content."

Monihan, who lives in Moorestown, N.J., with his wife and four children, is a 1983 graduate of Boston College. "It's a tremendous honor to lead the talented group at Comcast SportsNet as they deliver exceptional news and live game programming to the Philadelphia sports fan," he said. "We will continue to look for new and exciting ways to incorporate the latest technology, mobile applications and social media to give our viewers the news and information they want, when they want it, wherever they may be."

Under Monihan's tenure, CSN has enjoyed all-time ratings records for Flyers and Phillies games. He was instrumental in launching pregame programs for the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and Sixers.

He won the 2011 Face off for a Cure MVP from Autism Speaks and the NHL. He also is on the Advisory Committee for the Comcast SportsNet Shining Star Awards benefiting the March of Dimes.
