Rowan women win ECAC track crown

The Rowan University women's track and field team won the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship in Springfield, Mass., on Friday.

Among the highlights, Shailah Williams (Pemberton) won the 400 meters in 56.32 seconds. Vanessa Wright (Haddonfield) came in second in the 1,500 and the 4x800 squad of Vanessa Valdes, Jessalynn Wright (Cherokee), Melirah Search and Vanessa Wright finished second.

In the men's competition, Rowan's Demetrius Rooks (Absegami) won the 400 hurdles.

Widener's 4x100 team of Gavin Colley, Robert Herbster (Garnet Valley), Christian Jeznach and Ben Petrak (Kennett) finished seventh. The Pride's Robert Dowd (Haverford) was 22d in the javelin, remaining 25th in the nation.

Matt Curtis (West Deptford) of Rutgers-Camden finished third in the 400.

Lebanon Valley's Jerome Duncan (Sun Valley) medaled in the 110 hurdles.

Baseball

Cortland 4, Neumann 0 - Will Flores (Kennett) and Bill Pace (Cardinal O'Hara) each had two hits for the Knights (30-15), who fell to the Red Dragons to end Neumann's season at the NCAA regional in Auburn, N.Y.

George Washington 3, La Salle 1 - The Colonials (24-30, 14-9 Atlantic Ten) used a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to squeeze out a victory over the Explorers (24-26, 15-8) in Arlington, Va.
