Sports in Brief: Delran's Lloyd joins women's national team

Delran's Carli Lloyd will make her first appearance with the U.S. women's national team since suffering a broken left shoulder at the Algarve Cup in an exhibition against Canada next month. She was among 21 players called up. Former Villanova goalkeeper Jill Loyden, who also was hurt at the Algarve Cup in March, is on the roster, as is fellow keeper Nicole Barnhart (Boyertown).

Seattle Sounders midfielder Brad Evans was added to the U.S. men's national team roster for a training camp ahead of next month's trio of World Cup qualifiers, bringing the number of players invited to the camp to 30. Training camp opens Sunday in Cleveland, where the Americans will face Belgium in an exhibition on May 29.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE: Haverford College's Grace Stockbower (Upper Dublin) was picked to play in the IWLCA/DeBeer North-South Division III Senior All-Star Game at Cabrini College on Sunday.

COLLEGE SPORTS: West Chester won the Dixon Trophy, awarded by the PSAC to the league's top team. The Golden Rams were propelled by four conference championships - men's and women's swimming, along with field hockey and women's lacrosse.

AUTO RACING: IndyCar officials fined Graham Rahal's team $10,000, Ryan Briscoe's team $5,000 and Michel Jourdain Jr.'s team $1,000 after they failed post-qualifying inspection.

TENNIS: Andy Murray has withdrawn from the French Open after seeking medical advice on his back injury.

CYCLING: Benat Intxausti of Spain won the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia and Vincenzo Nibali retained the overall lead as the race entered the final week.

DIVING: Olympic gold medalist David Boudia will lead a team of 15 American divers at the world championships in Barcelona, Spain, in July.
