College Basketball: Florida knocks off Kansas

Scottie Wilbekin scored a career-high 18 points, Dorian Finney-Smith added 15 and No. 19 Florida (7-2) held on to beat No. 13 Kansas, 67-61, Tuesday night in Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators bounced back from a buzzer-beater loss at No. 9 Connecticut last week and extended their home winning streak to 21 games.

Wilbekin, who injured his right ankle against the Huskies eight days ago, made 7 of 12 shots and added six assists.

Freshman Andrew Wiggins led the Jayhawks (6-3) with 26 points and 11 rebounds - his first double-double and both career highs. Kansas has lost two straight.

Kentucky 70, Boise State 55 - James Young scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half and the No. 11 Wildcats (8-2) used solid defense to hand the visiting Broncos (8-1) their first loss.

Gonzaga 80, West Virginia 76 - Przemek Karnowski scored a season-high 19 points, Kevin Pangos added 18 and the No. 20 Bulldogs (9-1) came from 10 points down to beat the host Mountaineers (6-4).

Rutgers-Newark 60, Moravian 51 - Three Greyhounds scored in double digits but the Scarlet Raiders (6-2) hung on for the home win.

Matt Bosch (Ocean City) led the Greyhounds (3-5) with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds.

St. Joseph's 73, Hofstra 60 - Senior guard Erin Shields (Archbishop Carroll) became the 22d player in Hawks women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points for her career as she helped St. Joseph's (9-1) top the Flying Dutchmen (4-4) at Hagan Arena.

Shields, who reached the milestone at 5 minutes, 21 seconds of the first half, finished with a game-high 20 points in helping the Hawks to their eighth straight win.

Gonzaga 70, Wisconsin 55 - Jazmine Redmon scored 15 points as the No. 23 Bulldogs pulled away from the host Badgers (6-3) in the second half for the win.
