HARRISBURG - Archbishop Wood's Steve Devlin was named coach of the year and four of his Vikings were named to the Class AAA team as part of the 2013 Pennsylvania Football Writers all-state football squad that was announced Thursday.

Devlin, who is 84-16 in seven seasons as Wood coach, guided the Vikings to their second state championship in three seasons.

Vikings running back Jarrett McClenton was joined on the first team by lineman Ryan Bates, linebacker Jake Cooper, and athlete Josh Messina.

Also named to the AAA team were Cardinal O'Hara wide receiver Thaddius Smith and Lansdale Catholic tight end Zach Talley.

No local players were named to the Class A team, which also was released Thursday. All-state teams for Classes AAAA and AA were announced Wednesday.
