Oilers trade Bryzgalov to the Wild
The Minnesota Wild traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Edmonton Oilers for goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on Tuesday, one day before the NHL deadline for dealing.

The Minnesota Wild traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Edmonton Oilers for goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on Tuesday, one day before the NHL deadline for dealing.
The 33-year-old Russian and former Flyer has a 5-8-5 record for the Oilers this season with an ugly 3.01 goals-against average, and he's on a one-year contract, allowing the Wild to acquire him at relatively low cost.
Bryzgalov was dropped by the Flyers after last season in an amnesty buyout. Under the terms of the buyout, the Flyers owe him $23 million over 14 seasons, including this one.
The pick sent to Edmonton was originally acquired last year from Buffalo in the trade that brought first-line right wing Jason Pominville to Minnesota.
Rookie Darcy Kuemper has started 15 straight games in goal for the Wild, so Bryzgalov is more for insurance with Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding not at full strength.
Capitals get Penner
The Washington Capitals acquired forward Dustin Penner from the Anaheim Ducks for a fourth-round pick in this year's draft.
The 31-year-old Penner gives the Capitals a potential topline left wing as they make a push to get into playoff position with 20 games to go in the regular season.
Penner is set to become a free agent this summer. He signed a one-year, $2 million contract last year.
The deal returns to the Ducks the fourth-round pick they sent to Washington in the trade for Mathieu Perreault in September.
The Caps also shipped forwards Martin Erat and John Mitchell to Phoenix for forward Chris Brown, defenseman Rostislav Klesla, and a fourth-round selection in the 2015 draft.
Luongo a Panther
Roberto Luongo is heading back to Florida. The goalie was traded by the Vancouver Canucks to the Panthers, who gave up goalie Jacob Markstrom - once considered their future in net - and forward Shawn Mattias to make the deal happen.
Luongo told Canada's TSN Radio that he thought his contract would make him untradeable. He signed a 12-year extension in 2009, with the deal paying him about $64 million through 2022.
Vancouver acquired Luongo from Florida in 2006.
Hawks land blueliner
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired defensemen David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Rundblad has one assist in 12 games with the Coyotes this season. The 21-year-old Brisebois was assigned to Rockford of the AHL.
The defending Stanley Cup champions parted with a second-round selection in this year's draft to complete the trade.
The 23-year-old Rundblad made his NHL debut in 2011 with Ottawa. He has one goal and eight assists in 50 career games with the Senators and Coyotes.
Rundblad was selected by St. Louis with the 17th overall pick in 2009.
Finale for Brodeur?
Martin Brodeur made 20 saves in what might have been his last game with the Devils, and Stephen Gionta scored the tiebreaking goal with under 37 seconds left to lift New Jersey to a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in Newark.
Adam Henrique, Marek Zidlicky, and Travis Zajac also had goals for the Devils, who closed within one point of Detroit.
Johan Franzen, Brendan Smith, and Todd Bertuzzi scored for the Red Wings against Brodeur, who has been the subject of trade rumors leading up to Wednesday's NHL dealing deadline. He has a no-trade clause.
