Pa. Boys: Fri. Pa. boys: Frankford wins in extras

BASEBALL PUBLIC LEAGUE DIVISION A Frankford 11, Prep Charter 9: Gio Burgess drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning on a double down the right-field line. Burgos also came on to pitch in the fifth inning and allowed one unearned run to earn the win.

CHES-MONT NATIONAL

Avon Grove 4, Downingtown West 3: Joe Thompson's two-run double in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Red Devils. Thompson also threw four innings in relief to get the win.

CHES-MONT AMERICAN

Unionville 4, Oxford 3: Matt Foster singled home Nick Ward with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Andrew Jones struck out seven and walked none in a seven-hitter. Jones also had a two-run double in the second inning.

BICENTENNIAL INDEPENDENCE

New Hope-Solebury 3, Lower Moreland 2: Joe Stradler hit a walk-off double with one out. David Cherkowsky struck out six in a no-decision. Spencer Tinkle pitched a scoreless inning for the win.

NONLEAGUE

Episcopal Academy 7, Marple Newtown 6: Alex Burman had three hits and drove in three runs for the hosts.

Haverford School 10, Radnor 5: Kevin Carter's two-run home run in the third inning gave the visitors a 7-0 lead.

Engineering & Science 15, Rush 5: Jelani Wheeler cracked two home runs, including a grand slam, and had a two-run double to power the visitors. He drove in nine runs.

LACROSSE

INTER-AC LEAGUE

Haverford School 8, Episcopal Academy 4: Dox Aitken and Phil Poquie each scored twice for the visitors, who prevailed in a meeting of two of the area's top teams. Forry Smith and Brandon Shima each had a goal and an assist.

SUBURBAN ONE NATIONAL

Pennsbury 15, Truman 2: Hunter Lake scored four times, and Greg Kolowajtis and Jared Petty each had three to pace the hosts.

SUBURBAN ONE AMERICAN

Upper Dublin 17, Cheltenham 0: Michael Mullen scored four goals, and Ryan Siwinski, Michael Sowers, Tyler Fortune, and Connor Wall added two apiece as the visitors cruised.

FRIENDS SCHOOLS LEAGUE

Academy of the New Church 5, Shipley 3: James Vandergrift factored in all five goals to lead the visitors. Vandergrift scored three goals and assisted on the other two. Eric Carr had seven ground balls and went 7 for 12 on faceoffs.
