Ducks defeat Bruins in overtime

Ryan Getzlaf scored 3 minutes, 9 seconds into overtime to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 victory over the Bruins on Thursday night in Boston.

Getzlaf, who also assisted on Corey Perry's tying goal late in the third period, beat Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask from the slot with a wrist shot over his shoulder to snap the Ducks' two-game skid.

Perry tied it with 39 seconds remaining in regulation when his shot ricocheted in off a cluster in front of the net.

David Krejci had two assists in his return to the Bruins lineup after missing 15 games with a knee injury.

Rangers 5, Senators 1 - Chris Kreider had two goals and an assist and New York earned a playoff spot with a win in Ottawa.

The Rangers ended Ottawa's seven-game winning streak and handed Ottawa goalie Andrew Hammond, "The Hamburglar," his first regulation-time loss.

Kings 3, Islanders 2 - Anze Kopitar scored with 4:23 left, defenseman Alec Martinez had two assists, and Los Angeles won its third straight on its road trip by beating slumping New York in Uniondale, N.Y.

Kopitar, who had a goal and five assists in his previous three games, got to a deflected puck off a drive by defenseman Andrej Sekera and fired it past Jaroslav Halak for his 16th goal.

Jonathan Quick made 25 saves in his 400th NHL game. He has won at New Jersey, the New York Rangers, and the Islanders on this trip that has two games left.

Coyotes 4, Sabres 3 - Sam Gagner scored 56 seconds into overtime to lift Arizona over Buffalo, earning cheers from the last-place Sabres' fans hoping to get the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL draft.

The 29th-place Coyotes moved six points ahead of the Sabres, delighting the crowd clamoring for the best odds at the top pick.

Hurricanes 5, Penguins 2 - Eric Staal had a goal and two assists and Carolina beat Pittsburgh in Raleigh, N.C.
