Eagles tender offer to Matt Tobin; David Molk retires

THE EAGLES had two restricted free-agent offensive linemen heading into next week's start of free agency, and there was action on both fronts Friday.
Matt Tobin, 25, the starting right guard last season, was given the lowest possible tender. He will make $1.67 million on a one-year deal, should he make the team. Another team is free to make a better offer, but the Eagles retain the right to match.
Backup center David Molk, who missed all but last season's opener with a biceps tear, announced he was retiring. The Eagles did not tender Molk, 27, who started four games for them in 2014.
There has been widespread speculation that Molk is the author of "NFL Confidential," a recent book by an offensive lineman named "Johnny Anonymous," who tells of the 2014 season, his dislike of the NFL and his goal of getting through the schedule being paid to back up, without having to play, a goal that is shattered when the starter goes down, as Jason Kelce did that year with the Eagles.
