Rob Ellis to replace Glen Macnow on WIP afternoon show with Anthony Gargano

Veteran radio voice Glen Macnow, who left his afternoon gig alongside Anthony Gargano earlier this month in a contract dispute, reached an agreement that will keep him at WIP, station-owner CBS Radio announced today.

Veteran radio voice Glen Macnow, who left his afternoon gig alongside Anthony Gargano earlier this month in a contract dispute, reached an agreement that will keep him at SportsRadio 94WIP, albeit in a different role, station-owner CBS Radio announced today.

The station also confirmed an earlier report by that Rob Ellis, a six-year WIP veteran, will take over afternoon hosting duties with Gargano, while Macnow will continue to host his long-running Saturday midday show with Ray Didinger, and will appear on other CBS-owned area stations.

"I'm pleased we have reached an agreement with Glen that supports his relationship with WIP, and also allows us to increase his presence within the CBS RADIO Philly family of stations," said Marc Rayfield, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS RADIO Philadelphia. "Being able to use his expertise across more of our platforms is a real win for our stations, the listeners and Philadelphia's passionate sports fan base."

Beginning in January 2014, Macnow will be heard on KYW Newsradio 1060's afternoon broadcast of the "Reporter's Roundup," and, during football season, with Harry Donahue on the station's morning show.

He'll also be featured during the pre- and post-game Phillies shows on WPHT and will contribute to

Macnow offered the following statement:

I've loved doing a daily talk show for 20 years. There couldn't be a better job than coming in each day to talk sports with Philadelphia fans.

But, you know, things change in this business, and I respect management's right to make the moves it sees fit.

Meanwhile, I'm delighted to continue working every Saturday with my friend, Ray Didinger, and to continue hosting the Eagles pregame show on WIP. I'll have a presence on the station with features like the Food Hunt and the Movie Club.

I'll be part of the great Phillies coverage on WPHT. And as a guy who really listens to KYW two, three, four times a day, I'm looking forward to offering analysis on one of the country's great news stations.

The man filling his spot, Ellis, will be moving from his standard 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. slot, which he has held since 2010.

"I am thrilled and excited for the opportunity to move to afternoons with Anthony, who I consider the voice of Philadelphia sports," said Ellis. "I'm looking forward to sharing with listeners the compelling sports dramas that unfold every day."

"Rob is an outstanding broadcaster whose talent has been recognized by the local media, listeners and Philadelphia's biggest names in sports," said WIP Operations Manager Andy Bloom. "Pairing him with 'The Cuz' creates a one-of-a-kind combination of sports savants who will deliver a wildly entertaining program each day."

Taking over Ellis' spot is Josh Innes, who comes from CBS station KILT in Houston, where he hosted the afternoon drive spot for the past three years. Innes hails from Missouri originally, according to his Facebook page.

"Josh has the sports knowledge and strong opinions that are consistent with the original DNA of WIP," Bloom added. "Fans of SportsRadio 94WIP will appreciate Josh's style and instantly connect to his personality."

"Josh is a rising star in sports talk radio. It is always our intention to stay local but after paying attention to him for over a year, we simply could not pass up this opportunity," said Senior Vice President and Market Manager Marc Rayfield about why he decided to go outside the Philadelphia market. "His style is closely aligned with the DNA that has made WIP so successful. He will bring energy, passion and a different perspective."

The changes are scheduled to take effect on January 3, 2014.
