Joe Savery recalled -- decision on starter will wait

Roy Halladay officially goes on the disabled list, and the veteran lefthander is recalled from Triple-A.

The Phillies officially placed Roy Halladay on the disabled list today with what they described as right shoulder inflammation. To take his place on the roster they recalled lefty reliever Joe Savery, who will bolster a bullpen that logged 6 2/3 innings yesterday.

The Phillies need to recall a starter from Triple-A Lehigh Valley by Friday, although you would think the decision will be made at some point in the next 24 hours so that whoever it is can travel to the west coast and acclimate his body to the new time zone.

The Phillies play the Giants for the next three days and then have a four-game series in Arizona.

Halladay is expected to visit Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles at some point early this week, depending on when he can get an appointment.
