Change to main event at Asylum

MAIN EVENTS president Kathy Duva and matchmaker J Russell Peltz have come up with late substitutions for Saturday night's featured bout at the Asylum Arena, which was to have paired heavyweight contenders Eddie Chambers (36-2, 18 KOs) and Sergei Liakhovich (25-4, 16 KOs). That fight went by the boards when Chambers suffered cracked ribs in training last week and was forced to withdraw.

The new 10-round main event for the debut event of four 2012 cards to be televised by the NBC Sports Network pits Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm (13-0-1, 9 KOs), of Washington, against Philadelphian Bryant Jennings (11-0, 5 KOs) in a 10-round heavyweight battle.

Byarm, 29, is the son of Philly cruiserweight Lionel Byarm, who compiled a 12-7-2 record with four knockout victories from 1982 to '88. He was the foe when Evander Holyfield made his pro debut in 1984 with a unanimous-decision win in Madison Square Garden.

In the co-feature, junior middleweights Gabriel Rosado (18-5, 10 KOs), of North Philly, and Jesus Soto-Karass (24-6-3, 16 KOs), of Mexico, square off in a scheduled 10-rounder.
