Josh Luchs says in the Oct. 18 edition he paid more than 30 players from 1990-96, including many who didn't sign with him. Luchs was suspended for a year by the NFL Players Association in 2007 over the handling of a commission check. He said he is telling his story because "I don't want my career to be defined by that suspension."

Suspensions. Georgia tailback Caleb King is out two games for failing to appear in court. King is Georgia's 11th player to be arrested this year. . . . UCLA has suspended receiver Josh Smith and back Morrell Presley for the Oct. 21 game at Oregon for violating team rules. . . . Washington State suspended backup linebacker Jamal Atofau and freshman Andre Barrington, who were arrested after police found 38 marijuana plants growing in the house the players and two others rented.
