College Basketball: K-State gets by Presbyterian

Jacob Pullen scored 15 points to lead No. 3 Kansas State to a tough, 76-67 win over Presbyterian in Manhattan, Kan., on Thursday.

Up by 14 at the half, the Wildcats (3-0) couldn't shake the Blue Hose (0-2). The Wildcats' Rodney Magruder sank a baseline trey with 51 seconds left to make it 74-65 and seal the win.

Texas 90, Illinois 84 - Jordan Hamilton had 25 points to lead the No. 22 Longhorns (3-0) to an overtime win over the No. 15 Illini (3-1) in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic in New York City.

North Carolina 107, Hofstra 63 - Freshman Harrison Barnes scored 19 points as the No. 8 Tar Heels (2-0) pasted the Pride (1-1) in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan.

Pittsburgh 79, Maryland 70 - Talib Zanna had 14 points to lead the No. 5 Panthers (4-0) to victory over the Terrapins (3-1) in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic in New York City.

Florida 105, North Carolina A&T 55 - Chandler Parsons and Kenny Boynton had 16 points apiece, and the No. 9 Gators (2-1) overwhelmed the Aggies (1-3) in Gainesville, Fla.

Missouri 66, Western Illinois 61 - Laurence Bowers had nine points, and 10 rebounds as the No. 15 Tigers (1-0) held off the Leathernecks (2-1) in Columbia, Mo.

Georgetown 80, Coastal Carolina 61 - Jason Clark hit five three-pointers and scored 22 points as the No. 20 Hoyas (3-0) routed the Chanticleers (2-2) to open the Charleston Classic in Charleston, S.C.

Elsewhere: Freshman Perry Jones had 20 points to help the 17th-ranked Baylor (3-0) thrash Jackson State, 63-49.

In the area: Miguel Bocachia scored 13 points and Troy Hockaday added 12 to lead West Chester to a 100-45 non-league victory over visiting Penn State-Abington.

UCLA 86, Notre Dame 83

- Darxia Morris scored five points in the second overtime and came up with a big steal to help the No. 15 Bruins (3-0) beat the No. 12 Fighting Irish (2-1) in South Bend, Ind.

Notre Dame called time-out with 4.2 seconds remaining, but Morris stole the inbounds pass and hit two from the line.
