Mario Little hit a free throw with seven-tenths of a second remaining, lifting No. 4 Kansas to a pulsating 77-76 victory over visiting UCLA last night, extending the Jayhawks' team-record string of homecourt wins.

Tyler Honeycutt had 33 points for UCLA, including a three-pointer with 5 seconds to go that tied the score between two of basketball's most storied programs at 76-76.

But Malcom Lee was called for a foul when Little attempted a desperation heave, and the officials, after conferring at the scorer's table, sent him to the line.

He made the first foul shot but missed the second. Honeycutt's cross-court hurl toward the UCLA basket was off line, giving the Jayhawks (7-0) their narrowest victory in a 64-game homecourt winning streak.

Tyrel Reed and Tyshawn Taylor scored 17 points apiece to lead Kansas.

In other games:

* LaceDarius Dunn had 24 points with six three-pointers and sparked the tiebreaking run after halftime as No. 11 Baylor (6-0) stretched its home winning streak to 11 games with a 68-54 victory over Arizona State.

Dunn made all of his three-pointers before bruising his left forearm when he fell hard to the court going for an offensive rebound with 6:43 left. He was on the court writhing in pain, then went to the bench, where he kept rubbing his arm and grimacing before returning 2 minutes later. He was still hurting when he got back in the game.

* At Manhattan, Brandon Penn scored 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Rider (5-3, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) to a blowout win over the Jaspers, 88-59.

In a women's game:

* At South Florida, Stefanie Dolson scored 16 points and No. 1 Connecticut moved closer to the longest Division I winning streak in college basketball history by winning, 80-54. The Huskies (7-0, 1-0 Big East) have won 85 straight games, three shy of the men's mark set by UCLA from 1971-74.
