Saint Joseph's women defeat Penn

A 12-0 first-half run over a 6-minute span was enough for Saint Joseph's to dispatch Penn, 60-45, in women's basketball in the Big 5 opener for both teams last night at the Palestra.

Michelle Baker (12 points), Katie Kuester (11) and Kelly Cavallo (10) led the Hawks (5-3), who took a 35-21 lead into halftime. Alyssa Baron led Penn (2-5) with 16 points, draining three treys. Jess Knapp added 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. *
