NEW YORK - Sheila Reid of Villanova has won the Honda Sports Award as the top female in college cross country.

The senior from Newmarket, Ontario, led her team to an undefeated season and its second straight NCAA championship. She captured her first NCAA national cross country crown by a two-second margin, the closest finish in NCAA women's Division I history.

She was selected the cross country National Female Athlete of the Year this fall.

The other finalists were Oregon's Jordan Hasay, Georgetown's Emily Infeld and Texas El Paso's Risper Kimaiyo.

Reid is the first winner to be announced in 12 sports. She becomes eligible for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year award, which will be handed out June 27 in New York.
