O'Brien rejoins St. Joe's after penalty for violating 'code of conduct

Junior Todd O'Brien was back practicing with his Saint Joseph's teammates yesterday and will be eligible to play this afternoon against St. Bonaventure at Hagan Arena.

O'Brien did not play in the last three St. Joe's games. It was announced just before the Feb. 16 Xavier game that O'Brien was out, "due to a failure to comply with the university's community standards."

It was later learned that O'Brien was peripherally involved in a situation with freshman teammate Patrick Swilling Jr., who missed the Xavier game, "due to a violation of the university's student code of conduct." It was announced before last Sunday's game at Temple that Swilling was no longer enrolled at the university.

The original release also said, "The university will conduct a judicial process to determine the future status of both student athletes."

O'Brien apparently has gone through the process and is now back with the team. *
