Women's College Basketball: Xavier pulls away from Dayton for A-10 crown

Ta'Shia Phillips scored 26 points, including the go-ahead basket with 1 minute, 31 seconds to play, and No. 5 Xavier pulled away in the closing minutes for a 67-60 win over Dayton in the Atlantic Ten tournament title game in Lowell, Mass., on Monday.

Xavier, which won the A-10 tourney title for the fourth time in five years, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney, the Musketeers' fourth straight trip.

In other tournament finals with automatic bids: Courtney Vandersloot totaled 18 points, 16 assists, an a blocked shot as 20th-ranked Gonzaga beat St. Mary's, 72-46, in Las Vegas to win the WCC crown. . . . Erica Allenspach scored 21 points and No. 19 Marist beat Loyola (Md.), 63-45, in the MAAC title game in Bridgeport, Conn. . . . Paige Anderson hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds left to lift Samford over Appalachian State, 57-54, to win the Southern tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn..
