Connecticut's Jeremy Lamb scored the go-ahead points with 29 seconds remaining and then grabbed a rebound in the final moments to preserve the United States team's 78-77 victory in the fifth-place game over Australia at the Under-19 World Championships in Latvia.

The Americans won their last two games and finished 7-2 during the tournament.

Villanova's James Bell started all nine games, averaging 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.1 minutes. He shot 34.1 percent from the field.

He had four points and four rebounds in 13 minutes against Australia.

Lamb was the Americans' leading scorer at 16.2 points.

"I think, again, the experience these guys got and that they're going to take back to their campus is going to make them better players in the long run," said Team USA and George Mason coach Paul Hewitt. "It's a great tournament and this is my third time being involved with USA Basketball. Coaches and players who don't take part are really missing out if you love the game."
