"We are very disapppointed for Norman," Villanova coach Andy Talley said in a release about the 6-3, 205-pounder from Hammonton, N.J. "He is a premier player in our league who looked poised for another big season. The silver lining is that we will be able to get Norman healthy and have him back for next year."

His backup is Clay Horne, who becomes the fifth true freshman starter on the depth chart. All but one are on offense. Two other redshirt freshmen are also starting, including quarterback Dustin Thomas, who is taking over for 4-year incumbent Chris Whitney.

Also, Temple has named its captains for the season: seniors defensive end Morkeith Brown, offensive lineman John Palumbo, defensive end Adrian Robinson and linebacker Tahir Whitehead.
