AUTHORITIES SAY an arrest warrant has been issued for a man suspected of shooting into a Dayton, Ohio, nightclub and killing a Central State University football player.
Montgomery County coroner's spokesman Ken Betz says 21-year-old sophomore Kordero Hunter, of South Holland, Ill., in suburban Chicago, died at a hospital early yesterday of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Police Sgt. Moises Perez says Hunter and other CSU students at the club were innocent bystanders. Perez says another male student shot in the neck was expected to be released from a hospital yesterday.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Jason Dashaun Shern in connection with the shooting.
Officials at CSU in Wilberforce say that the campus community is mourning the loss of Hunter.
"The club was very crowded, and when an argument broke out inside, the club owner broke it up and started escorting some of the people outside," Perez said. "The owner then saw a woman passing a gun to the shooter, who was outside, and he started shooting into the bar."
Two women were treated for injuries and released from a hospital, Perez said. He said one woman was struck in the arm by flying glass and the other was trampled in the panic after the shooting.
Officials at CSU in Wilberforce did not immediately return messages left at the school.
A roster on the CSU football website says Hunter, a junior defensive back, played previously for Northern Illinois University
