College Basketball: UCF upsets UConn; Harvard tops Fla. St.

Keith Clanton scored 20 points, and Central Florida rallied to upset No. 4 Connecticut, 68-63, in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Paradise Island, Bahamas, on Friday.

Marcus Jordan added 20 points and seven rebounds for the Knights, who trailed by 17 at one point. Clanton made four three-pointers and had six rebounds.

Jeremy Lamb had 15 points for the defending national champion Huskies (5-1), who lost for the first time since March 5 against Notre Dame. Alex Oriakhi had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Harvard 46, Florida State 41 - Brandyn Curry had six points, five assists, and five steals to help Harvard top No. 22 Florida State in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Oliver McNally had a game-high nine points for the Crimson (5-0), who will face Central Florida in the championship on Saturday.

The Seminoles (5-1) missed their first 15 shots. Michael Snaer led the way for Florida State with seven points.

Ohio State 80, Valparaiso 47 - William Buford scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half, and the No. 3 Buckeyes (6-0) routed the Crusaders (5-2) in Columbus, Ohio.

Aaron Craft added 15 points and eight assists for Ohio State. Jay Harris led Valparaiso with 18 points.

Syracuse 69, Stanford 63 - Kris Joseph had 18 points and eight rebounds, and the No. 5 Orange (6-0) closed the game on a 15-3 run to beat the Cardinal (5-1) and win the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden. Aaron Bright led Stanford with 13 points.

Louisville 59, Ohio 54 - Kyle Kuric scored 16 points, and Gorgui Dieng grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the No. 7 Cardinals (5-0) over the Bobcats (3-1) in the Global Sports Invitational in Louisville, Ky.

Rick Pitino's 250th victory as Louisville's coach was in doubt until the final minute.

Florida 107, Jacksonville 62 - Kenny Boynton scored 22 points, Erving Walker added 21, and the No. 10 Gators (4-1) used one of their best shooting performances to handle the Dolphins (2-3) in Gainesville, Fla.

Notre Dame star Tim Abromaitis is out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during practice. The 6-foot-8 fifth-year senior is expected to have surgery in the next two weeks.

Authorities involved in a sexual-abuse investigation of Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine carried out a search at his Syracuse home Friday but declined to comment on what they were looking for.
