College Basketball: 3 area point guards on Cousy Award watch list

Three Philadelphia-area point guards - La Salle's Tyreek Duren, Penn's Zack Rosen, and Villanova's Maalik Wayns - were named Monday as candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, which goes to the nation's top point guard.

Weekly honors. Langston Galloway of St. Joseph's was named the Big Five men's player of the week. . . . Widener's Jack Brennan, a Sterling (N.J.) High graduate, was the Commonwealth Conference men's player of the week. Joanna Persiano, a Holy Spirit grad, earned the women's award. . . . Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference men's player of the week.

Chestnut Hill 66, Slippery Rock 61 - Dan Comas scored 18 points to lead the visiting Griffins (10-4) past the Rock (5-4) in a nonleague game.

East Stroudsburg 79 Univ. of the Sciences 65 - Garret Kerr had 20 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists for the Devils (1-7) in their nonleague road loss to the Warriors (7-5).

Women

Drexel 72, La Salle 59 - Alexis Scott scored 33 points, but the Explorers (3-8) lost to Drexel. Taylor Wootton led the Dragons (5-3) with 20 points.

Holy Family 59, St. Thomas Aquinas 36 - Erin Mann, a Villa Maria graduate, scored a game-high 21 points for the Tigers (7-3) in their nonleague win.

Bloomsburg 80, Chestnut Hill 64 - Marqesah Spicer scored 18 points for the hosts (1-9) in the nonleague loss.
