Drexel women fall in South Carolina

Drexel had three players in double figures but it wasn't enough in a 62-58 loss to host South Carolina in women's basketball action last night.

Tyler Hale, Hollie Mershon and Kamile Nacickaite each scored 14 points for the Dragons (5-5), who led for much of the first half before a 20-8 second-half run by the Gamecocks (11-2), fueled by Ieasia Walker's 18 points.

In another women's game:

* Elena Delle Donne and Delaware made light work of host East Carolina in the Terrapin Holiday Classic behind a 60-40 victory that improved the No. 19 Blue Hens to 10-0. Delle Donne dropped 22 points, but Delaware will face a much stiffer test in No. 5 Maryland in today's final.
