College Basketball: Rutgers upsets No. 10 Florida

Freshman Eli Carter scored 31 points and hit the go-ahead basket in the second overtime as Rutgers (8-5) rallied to stun No. 10 Florida (11-2), 85-83, in Piscataway, N.J., on Thursday night.

The Scarlet Knights came back from a seven-point deficit late in regulation and Carter hit a late three-pointer in the first overtime to put Rutgers in position to win.

Vanderbilt 74, Marquette 57 - Jeffery Taylor scored 19 points to help the Commodores (9-4) steamroll the No. 14 Golden Eagles (11-2) in Milwaukee.

Jae Crowder scored 16 points for the Golden Eagles.

Michigan 71, Penn State 53 - Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 26 points, and freshman Trey Burke added 13 points to lead the No. 18 Wolverines (11-2) over the Nittany Lions (8-6) in Ann Arbor, Mich. in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Evan Smotrycz chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolverines.

Tim Frazier had 20 points and four assists for Penn State, but the rest of the team combined for just two assists and eight turnovers.

Harvard 67, Boston College 46 - Reserve Laurent Rivard scored 18 points to lead the No. 24 Crimson (11-1) over the Eagles (5-8) in Boston.

Harvard plays its first home game while ranked in the AP Top 25 on Saturday when it hosts St. Joseph's.

North Carolina 100, Elon 62 - Tyler Zeller had 19 points and 13 rebounds to help the fifth-ranked Tar Heels (12-2) thump the Phoenix (7-5) in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Kansas 89, Howard 34 - Tyshawn Taylor and Connor Teahan scored 13 points each, and the No 17 Jayhawks (9-3) emptied their bench in a blowout of the overmatched Bison (4-10) in Lawrence, Kan.

 Massachusetts-Boston 62, Eastern 61 - Quadry Allen's free throw with seven seconds left sealed the win as the Beacons (6-6) rallied past the Eagles (7-4) in the Big Easy Challenge in Westwego, La. Alex Nelson had 16 points to lead Eastern.

Hartwick 104, Penn State-Abington 90 - Jared Suderley poured in 28 points as the Hawks (11-0) beat the Nittany Lions (3-6) in the Championship Game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in York, Pa. Mike Marvin led the Lions with 23 points and Mike Colacci had 19. Marvin and Colacci were named to the all-tournament team.

Cabrini 80, Johns Hopkins 60 - Corey Lemons scored 18 points to lift the Cavaliers (9-0) to a win over the Blue Jays (5-2) in the Papa John's/Country Hearth Inn Tournament in Danville, Ky.

Stonehill 86, Holy Family 71 - Adam Fazzini scored a game-high 22 points off the bench to lead the Skyhawks (8-2) past the Tigers (5-5) in the East Region Classic at Philadelphia University. Rickie Crews (Deptford), led Holy Family with 18 points.

Philadelphia U. 77, Assumption 62 - Nick Schlitzer had 21 points to as the Rams (6-4) topped the Greyhounds (5-5) in the East Region Classic.
