College Basketball: Delle Donne gets 2,000th for career

Delaware's Elena Delle Donne had 42 points, including the 2,000th of her career, and added 14 rebounds and six blocks to help the No. 10 Blue Hens (23-1, 14-0 Colonial Athletic Association) beat Hofstra (17-8, 9-5) in Hempstead, N.Y., on Thursday.

Delle Donne hit a pretty three-pointer from the top of the key to cross the 2,000-point milestone.

Drexel 53, Old Dominion 45 - Hollie Mershon (Archbishop Carroll) led all scorers with 18 points, including four big points in the final 2 minutes, 27 seconds as the Dragons (13-11, 9-5 CAA) rallied to beat the Monarchs (9-17, 6-8) in Norfolk, Va.

Penn State 74, Purdue 63 - Maggie Lucas (Germantown Academy) scored 20 of her 28 points in the second half as the No. 12 Lions (21-5, 11-3) won their fifth straight, topping the No. 17 Boilermakers (19-7, 9-4) in West Lafayette, Ind.

Alabama 77, Kentucky 75 - Jasmine Robinson scored 17 points and the Crimson Tide (12-15, 2-11 Southeastern Conference) held off a big rally for a victory over the No. 7 Wildcats (21-5, 10-3) in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

University of the Sciences 50, Philadelphia U. 44 - Jessica Sylvester (Nazareth Academy) came off the bench to score all 13 of her points in the second half to lead the Devils (15-10, 11-6 Central Atlantic) over the host Rams (19-7, 13-4) at the Gallagher Center. Christine Wooding led the Rams with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Men

Duke 78, North Carolina State 73 - Seth Curry poured in 26 points to lead the No. 5 Blue Devils (22-4, 9-2 ACC) over the Wolfpack (18-8, 7-4) in Durham, N.C.

Michigan State 69, Wisconsin 55 - Draymond Green had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Keith Appling scored 20 points as the No. 7 Spartans (21-5, 10-3 Big Ten) beat the No. 15 Badgers (19-7, 8-5) in East Lansing, Mich.

Penn State 69, Iowa 64 - Tim Frazier scored 18 points and the Lions (12-15, 4-10 Big Ten) held on for a victory over the Hawkeyes (13-13, 5-8) in State College, Pa.

West Virginia 66, Pittsburgh 48 - Kevin Jones scored 16 points to go with 13 rebounds and the Mountaineers (17-10, 7-7 Big East) pasted the Panthers (15-12, 4-10) in perhaps the final edition of the "Backyard Brawl" in Pittsburgh.

University of the Sciences 76, Philadelphia U. 74 - Henry Messinger, Tyrone Mann-Barnes and Garret Kerr each had 17 points, and Myer Messinger added 13 as the Devils (5-18, 3-12 Central Atlantic) upended the host Rams (16-8, 11-4) at the Gallagher Center.

Jim Connolly led the Rams with 21 points, while Nick Christian added 11 points and 14 rebounds.
