Pat Carroll to enter St. Joe's hoops Hall
Former St. Joseph's standout Pat Carroll (Hatboro-Horsham) will be inducted into the school's Basketball Hall of Fame on April 13. The 2011-12 Hawks will also be honored that evening.
Former St. Joseph's standout Pat Carroll (Hatboro-Horsham) will be inducted into the school's Basketball Hall of Fame on April 13. The 2011-12 Hawks will also be honored that evening.
Carroll, who starred for the Hawks from 2001 to 2005, is remembered as one of the finest perimeter shooters in St. Joseph's history. He holds the school career records for three-pointers (294), three-point percentage (44.5), and three-point attempts (661).
He was the 2004-05 Atlantic Ten co-player of the year, an AP honorable-mention all-American, and the most outstanding player in the A-10 championship and the Big Five.
Penn women take two
Penn's softball team scored eight runs on nine hits in the first game to beat visiting La Salle, 8-0 in nine innings, then took the second game, 5-1.
Gettysburg tops Widener
Widener's men lacrosse team couldn't hold a first-quarter lead against visiting Gettysburg, losing, 9-6, to the Bullets.
The Pride held a 2-0 cushion after the first quarter on goals from seniors Johnny Casey (Abington) and Michael Bassani, but the Bullets scored four goals in the second quarter, including two by Austin Dodson, and never trailed after that.
Honors
Penn State Abington senior shortstop Tom Ditro (Archbishop Ryan) has been named to the D3Baseball.com team of the week, the second time he has received the honor. And on Monday, he was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball player of the week.
Concordia freshman Tomasz Olfans has won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's tennis player of the week and rookie of the week awards for the period ending March 26.
