Lafayette lacrosse player honored

Lafayette midfielder Ana White (Strath Haven) was named first team all-Patriot League in women's lacrosse. The Patriot League rookie of the year in 2011, White was named the league's player of the week five times this season when she set a league record with 113 draw controls. White scored 36 goals.

Navy's Kathy Young (Villa Maria Academy) also was named first team all-Patriot League at midfield.

Melissa Scanzano (Haverford) scored five goals as Cabrini (8-8) outlasted Widener, 17-16. Laura Kalbach had five goals for the Pride (6-8).

Eastern (6-9, 4-2) secured a spot in the inaugural Freedom Conference tournament with a 13-6 win over Arcadia (7-9, 1-4) in St. David's.

SOFTBALL: Amanda Cassella (Hammonton) tossed a one-hit shutout as Rutgers-Camden beat visiting Rutgers-Newark, 10-2, in five innings to split a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader. Newark won the opener, 5-0.

VOLLEYBALL: Lauren Pisauro, an all-stater at Pennsbury last season, signed a letter of intent to play for Lafayette.

HONORS: Ursinus centerfielder Amy Gentile (Rancocas Valley) was named the Centennial Conference softball player of the week.
