Rowan advances in NCAA softball tournament

Minix, a senior from Kingsway, struck out four and raised her record to 12-6. Profs leftfielder Jennifer Arcella homered and drove in two runs.
Rowan, seeded third in the regional, will play again Friday at 4 p.m.
In other first-round games, top-seeded Montclair State shutout Baruch, 8-0. Fourth-seeded College of New Jersey defeated fifth-seed Alvernia, 2-1, in nine innings.
St. Joseph's Bernadette Moran was named first-team all-Atlantic Ten at second base for the second straight season. The senior from Archbishop Prendergast leads the Hawks with a .331 batting average, and has driven in 24 runs on 46 hits.
TRACK & FIELD: Rowan's Ali Ejaz was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference's outstanding male track athlete of the year.
Ejaz, a junior from Glassboro, won the 200 meters and anchored the champion 400 and 1,600 meter relay teams at Saturday's conference championships.
BASEBALL: St. Bonaventure (19-22, 7-12 A-10) scored in each of the final seven innings to down Temple (18-30, 6-13) by a 16-10 score in a steady rain at Fred Handler Park in Olean, N.Y. The Owls' Matt Elko was 3 for 4 with a double.
WOMEN'S ROWING: Temple's Taylor Wasserleben (Upper Moreland) and Allison Boc (Camden Catholic) and St. Joe's Ariana McDevitt (Sacred Heart Academy) all were named first-team Atlantic Ten.
MEN'S LACROSSE: Cabrini (16-2) won its 14th straight on Wednesday night, defeating visiting Eastern, 19-3, in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Brian Hill (Ridley) had four goals and three assists.
No. 6 Cabrini will face No. 11 Dickinson (15-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday in Carlisle. The Red Devils topped Kenyon, 15-6, on Thursday.
Dickinson is one of two teams to beat Cabrini this season, scoring six seconds on the clock to defeat the Cavaliers, 12-11, on Feb. 29.
