West Chester wins Div. II regional baseball title

West Chester (41-10) will meet Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Kutztown (36-18) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Owls Field in West Lawn, Pa.
A win sends the Golden Rams to the Division II College World Series in Cary, N.C., May 26 to June 2.
West Chester sent 10 men to the plate in the first, and Seton Hill (46-11) starter Greg Daviault was lifted without retiring a batter. The first three hitters in West Chester's order combined to go 6 for 12 with five runs scored. Chris Pula (Northern Burlco) and Justin Lamborn (Garnet Valley) each had three RBIs.
Breidenbach (8-2) gave up one earned run in six innings.
Kyle Mullen (St. Joseph's Prep) struck out nine in a complete-game victory on Friday night as St. Joseph's University beat Xavier, 5-1, in Cincinnati to gain a berth in the Atlantic Ten tournament for the first time.
Mullen set the school record for innings pitched in a season (972/3), breaking the 921/3 set by John Butz in 1965. He also passed Jamie Moyer for seventh place on the school's all-time strikeout list with 175. Moyer struck out 170 in his SJU career. (Moyer set the Hawks record of 90 whiffs in a season as a senior in 1984). Butts holds the career record with 212.
Haverford catcher Jeremy Zoll and outfielder Alex Hudak were voted to the NCAA Division III, Mid-Atlantic Regional's third team, as voted by the region's sports information directors. Zoll hit .413 and drove in 32 runs. His 98 career RBIs are eighth in program history. Hudak led the team with 43 RBIs.
Slippery Rock righthander Lou Trivino (Upper Bucks Christian) was named first-team all-Atlantic Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
SOFTBALL:
St. Joseph's catcher Lauren Rendon was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I all-Northeast Region second team, as voted by the coaches. The freshman led the Hawks in home runs (eight) and RBIs (35)
WOMEN'S LACROSSE: Ursinus forward Alyssa Thren (Upper Perkiomen) was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association all-Metro Region first team. A repeat selection, Thren led the Bears in goals (49) and points (55). She also became the second player in NCAA history to score 100 goals in both women's lacrosse and in field hockey.
Haverford's Josie Ferri (Pennsbury) was named to the IWLCA All-Metro second team. The senior attack, a four-time All-Centennial Conference selection, led the team in goals (31) and graduated with school records in shots on goal (264), draw controls (151), and free position goals (43).
GOLF: Penn's men's team finished 13th in the NCAA regional at Bowling Green, Ky. The Quakers shot 926 for the three-day tournament. Chattanooga won the regional with a score of 859 (five under par) at the Club at Old Stone.
HONORS: Philadelphia University inducted five new members into its Hall of Fame on Friday: Jim McGilvery (men's basketball); Janet Tarpey Trinh (women's lacrosse/soccer), Monica Sortino (women's basketball); and Vincent Martin Wolanin (baseball).
Chris Netzel, a 32-year employee of the university who maintains the athletic fields to NCAA regulations, received the hall's lifetime achievement award.
