The Spartans (5-4, 2-3 Big Ten) have won four of their last six against Wisconsin, though this was their first win at Camp Randall since 2001. It was the first loss at home for the Badgers (6-3, 3-2) since Oct. 17, 2009, and only their fourth since Bret Bielema became coach in 2006.
Only LSU, with 22 straight victories, had a longer home winning streak than Wisconsin.
Wisconsin and Michigan State have been two of the Big Ten's best in recent years. No school has won more conference games since 2010, and they've had a hand in the last two Big Ten championships. They shared it in 2010, and Wisconsin beat the Spartans in the inaugural Big Ten title game last year.
Indiana 31, Illinois 17 - Nate Sudfeld came off Indiana's bench to throw for two touchdowns and the Hoosiers defense throttled Illinois in Champaign, Ill.
The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Hoosiers (3-5, 1-3 Big Ten) that included tight losses to Ohio State, Navy, and Michigan State. It also ended an 11-game Big Ten drought that dated to 2010.
Sudfeld took over after starting quarterback Cameron Coffman was benched following a first-quarter interception. His second scoring pass, a 17-yarder to Shane Wynn midway through the fourth quarter, put the Hoosiers up, 31-17, and finished Illinois.
The Illini (2-6, 0-4) were led by Donovonn Young's career-high 124 rushing yards. Illinois has lost five in a row.
Northwestern 28, Iowa 17 - Kain Colter scored three rushing touchdowns and threw for another score as Northwestern defeated Iowa in Evanston, Ill.
The Wildcats (7-2, 3-2 Big Ten) have been struggling with their passing game, but had success running the ball. Colter rushed for 166 yards and Venric Mark ran for 162 yards. Mark became Northwestern's first 1,000-yard rusher since Tyrell Sutton in 2006.
Northwestern has won four of its last five against the Hawkeyes (4-3, 2-1), who fell further out of contention in the Big Ten Legends Division. Iowa was hurt by sacks, penalties, and lack of execution on offense.
Minnesota 44, Purdue 28 - Freshman Philip Nelson threw three touchdown passes in the first half of his second college start for Minnesota, and the Gophers breezed to their first Big Ten victory of the season by beating Purdue in Minneapolis.
Nelson led Minnesota (5-3, 1-3 Big Ten) to touchdowns on four straight possessions while the Gophers averaged almost 10 yards per play.
