College Basketball: No. 2 UConn whips No. 10 Penn St.

Brianna Banks added 10 points for the Huskies (8-0), who won for the fourth time this season against a ranked opponent.

Maggie Lucas scored 15 points, and Ariel Edwards added 10 for Penn State (6-2), which trailed by just three points early in the second half.

"We're really disappointed," Lucas said. "Just staying close to them isn't good enough. We've got to get better. We want to be on this level."

Duke 85, Georgia Tech 52 - Elizabeth Williams had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the No. 4 Blue Devils (7-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) in their league opener vs. the Yellow Jackets (3-5, 0-1).

Kent State 71, Temple 62 - The Golden Flashes got their first win of the season at the expense of the visiting Owls.

The Owls (5-3) held an 11-point lead early in the second half, but fouls and turnovers caused their undoing. The Flashes, meanwhile, got their first win and are 1-7.

Temple's Victoria Macaulay led all players with a double-double, 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Tyonna Williams had 14 points.

Men

Cincinnati 87, Arkansas-Little Rock 53 - Sean Kilpatrick scored 18 points as the No. 11 Bearcats (8-0) set a school record with 23 steals in beating the visiting Trojans (7-4).

Syracuse 84, Long Beach St. 53 - The No. 4 Orange (7-0) had a 20-point lead at the half to dominate the visiting 49ers (3-5).
