Kenny Kadji scored 17 points and Durand Scott had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Miami to a 77-46 win over previously unbeaten Charlotte (9-1) on Friday night in Coral Gables, Fla.

The Hurricanes (6-1) never trailed as they built an 11-point halftime lead and outscored the 49ers, 14-6, in the opening 5 minutes, 27 seconds of the second half.

Conference switch

Quinnipiac and Monmouth accepted invitations to join the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The MAAC made the announcement Friday and said the schools would join the conference for the 2013-14 academic year.

Loyola (Md.) is leaving the MAAC after this season, the league's 32d.

Hoosier hysteria

No. 1 Indiana will have a new look Saturday against in-state rival Butler. Forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea and center Peter Jurkin are expected to make their college debuts after serving NCAA-imposed nine-game suspensions. The return of the two freshmen couldn't come at a better time.

Indiana (9-0) lost sophomore forward Austin Etherington with a season-ending fractured left kneecap last weekend and is still without senior forward Derek Elston.

Butler (7-2) is looking for its first win in three tries against a No. 1 team.
