Temple's Khalif Wyatt is Atlantic Ten player of the year

Did anybody think that Khalif Wyatt would not be the Atlantic Ten Conference player of the year? The answer is probably no. So the inevitable happened Tuesday when the A-10 named the Temple guard its top player in a vote by a panel of the conference's 16 head coaches.

Did anybody think that Khalif Wyatt would not be the Atlantic Ten Conference player of the year?

The answer is probably no. So the inevitable happened Tuesday when the A-10 named the Temple guard its top player in a vote by a panel of the conference's 16 head coaches.

What Wyatt did this season was unbelievable. He was the conference's leading scorer at 19.9 points per game, with five games of 30 or more points and 616 points for the season.

The 6-foot-4 senior from Norristown is the first Temple player since Pepe Sanchez in 2000 and the 10th overall to win the award.

He joins a Temple fraternity that includes Temple hall of famers Terence Stansbury (won A-10 award in 1984), Granger Hall ('85), Nate Blackwell ('87), Tim Perry ('88), Marc Macon ('89), Aaron McKie ('93), Eddie Jones ('94), and Marc Jackson ('97).

"It's an award that should really go to my teammates and coaches - all of them - for helping me all year," said Wyatt, who also was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association all-District II team on Tuesday.
