Neumann in baseball regional

The Neumann baseball team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III tournament announced Monday. Neumann will play in the Auburn, N.Y., regional, hosted by Ithaca. The fifth-seeded Knights will face No. 4 Farmingdale State on Wednesday morning.

Ithaca is the top seed, followed by Cortland and Rowan. Amherst is sixth, Rensselaer seventh, and Moravian eighth.

The winners of the eight regional tournaments advance to the national championship game.

Penn State Abington was selected to play in the ECAC South tournament for the third consecutive season. The Nittany Lions, who are the third seed, will play second-seeded McDaniel on Wednesday in Westminster, Md.

Softball. Rowan lost to Tufts, 4-1, in the final round of the NCAA regional in Babson Park, Mass.

The Profs' lone run came in the fifth inning, when Alysa Romero (Vineland) homered.

The Profs end the season with a 41-9 record. Tufts (42-3) advances to the Division III national championship game.

DeRosa to Penn State. Aston resident Ricky DeRosa will play ice hockey at Penn State in the fall. The forward, who played in 135 regular-season games the last three years with the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League, played for Cardinal O'Hara from 2006-10. He helped O'Hara win the Flyers Cup championship in 2010.
