Shippensburg quarterback Zach Zulli won NCAA Division II's version of the Heisman Trophy last season, but he says he is ready to move on.
"It's kind of like it didn't happen," Zulli said Monday at PSAC East media day at Kutztown University. "That's what I'm going off of, that it didn't happen, and I'm working hard to get to that next step. That's what my focus is. I've put last season in the past and I'm ready to go into the new season."
The Harlon Hill Trophy winner passed for 4,747 yards and 54 touchdowns last season. Zulli is one of 13 returning starters for the Raiders, who went 11-2 and won the division championship in 2012.
"We've got a lot of young guys who are going to be really good this year," said Zulli, a graduate of Perkiomen Valley High. "There's a lot of guys who are going to have to step up and play well, and I think that we have the potential. We have a lot of solid players who can play any position. Everyone's been working hard, and I think we're going to be fine."
