West Chester advances in Division II football tourney

White, who started the day needing 36 yards to break the record, finished with 89 yards on the ground and one touchdown. He now has 4,062 career rushing yards. His 2-yard TD run just two minutes into the contest was his 22d score of the season, tying the school record for most TDs in a single season.
Golden Rams QB Sean McCartney (Archbishop Wood) set the school record for most passing yards in a playoff game, throwing for 423 yards and four touchdowns - including a 94-yard bomb to Tim Keyser (Garnet Valley). It was Keyser's lone catch of the day.
Erick Brundidge (Northeast) had five catches for 100 yards and a TD.
American International QB Kevin Arduino rushed for his 21st touchdown of the season - the only score for the Yellow Jackets (9-3).
West Chester, which equaled the school's single-season record for wins, advances to the second round to play at PSAC East rival Bloomsburg next Saturday at noon at Redman Stadium. The Huskies handed the Golden Rams their lone defeat on the season, 31-28, on Nov. 9 at Farrell Stadium.
Winston-Salem State 27, Slippery Rock 20 - Looks like Rams quarterback Rudy Johnson has recovered from his Nov. 15 beating by five Virginia State players during the CIAA title-game banquet.
Host Winston-Salem collected 477 yards in total offense behind a 315-yard, three-TD passing effort by Johnson, who also rushed for 86 yards on 18 carries, as the No. 9 Rams (10-1) knocked out the No. 20 Rock (9-3) in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament in North Carolina.
The Rams, winners of 10 consecutive games, will next face No. 6 Shepherd.
Division III
Rowan 24, Endicott 0 - Withler Marcelin (Ocean Twp.) ran the ball 43 times for 223 yards and one touchdown as the No. 24 Profs (9-2) thumped the Gulls (8-3) in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Glassboro, N.J.
Khalil Pierce (Timber Creek) had 15 carries for 121 yards and one touchdown for the Profs, while Dan Dawson (Eastern Regional) kicked a 35-yard field goal.
Rowan moves on to face No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, 35-7 winners over the University of Redlands.
Wittenberg 59, Lebanon Valley 17 - The Dutchmen's first-time run in the tournament ended in the first round as they ran up against one of the nation's top offenses in a rout by the No. 12 Tigers (10-1) in Springfield, Ohio.
Brian Murphy threw for 173 yards and TDs to Joey Miller and Tyler George, and Brendan Irving (Kingsway Regional) ran for his fifth straight 100-yard game, gaining 101 yards on the day for Lebanon Valley (8-3).
Wittenberg advanced to play No. 1 Mount Union.
ECAC Championship
Franklin & Marshall 38, Delaware Valley 14 - E.J. Schneider threw for 232 yards and three TDs and Frank Strumolo rushed for 156 yards and two more scores as the Diplomats (7-4) downed the Aggies (7-4) in Doylestown.
Kyle Schuberth (Monsignor Bonner) ran for 96 yards and both Aggies TDs. He finished the year with 1,336 yards.
Aaron Wilmer (George Washington) was 12 of 26 for 170 yards with two picks.
