Penn men will host Drexel in NCAA lacrosse first round

The fourth-seeded Penn Quakers will face a neighborhood foe Sunday at 3 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament.

Ivy League champion Penn (11-3) will host Drexel (12-4), the Colonial Athletic Association champion, in a game that will be televised by ESPNU.

The Quakers have won eight consecutive games, which matches their longest winning streak since 1988. The Dragons also have won eight in a row.

Drexel beat Hofstra, 11-10, in triple overtime to win its first CAA championship.

The NCAA semifinals and final will be played May 24 and 25 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Women's tournament

Ivy League champion Penn (12-4) will play Canisius on Friday at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament in College Park, Md. The two teams have never met.

Canisius (12-6) won its fourth straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship Sunday by beating Marist, 11-9. The winner of Friday's game will take on top-seeded Maryland (19-1) on Sunday.

The women's semifinals and final will be played May 23 and 25 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.
