Owls athletic director: 'I've already been contacted by between 16 to 20 candidates'

Temple believes it won't have a hard time replacing Steve Addazio.

After two seasons on North Broad Street, he accepted the head-coaching position at Boston College on Tuesday.

"We were in a far different place when Steve Addazio came in, and we are in a farther place now since he's been there," Owls athletic director Bill Bradshaw said. "So we are optimistic. I've already been contacted by between 16 and 20 candidates, which is an all-time record in my career for any position this soon."

Bradshaw said maybe that is contributed to emails and voicemails.

"But there were 16 to 20 candidates or representatives of those candidates that left a message to me already from current head coaches in Division I to offensive, defensive coordinators in the NFL," Bradshaw said. "So I have every assurance and confidence that this will be a meaningful search for Temple and the university, and a great opportunity for someone to come to Temple."

New York Giants assistant Matt Rhule's name has been mentioned as a possible replacement. Rhule was an assistant at Temple.

Addazio went 13-11 in two seasons with the Owls.
