Report: Rutgers names Julie Hermann new athletic director
Louisville deputy athletic director Julie Hermann has been named as the new head of Rutgers' athletic department.
Louisville deputy athletic director Julie Hermann has been named as the new head of Rutgers' athletic department, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Hermann will be the first female athletic director in Rutgers' history. She succeeds Tim Pernetti, who resigned in the wake of the scandal around former men's basketball coach Mike Rice.
The 49-year-old will be one of only three female athletic directors among the 73 schools that play in BCS football conferences.
Hermann was chosen over Wisconsin deputy athletic director Sean Frazier by Rutgers' 11-person board of governors. The board made the final decision after a vote of the six members of Rutgers' executive athletic committee finished in a 3-3 tie.
