Villanova men's hoops now 2-0 during exhibition tour of Spain

Josh Hart scored 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds Sunday and Villanova blunted a last-minute rally by a Spanish Select Team to gain an 85-80 victory on the second game of its tour of Spain.

MADRID -- Josh Hart scored 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds Sunday and Villanova blunted a last-minute rally by a Spanish Select Team to gain an 85-80 victory on the second game of its tour of Spain.

The Wildcats, who are 2-0 on the tour with one game remaining on Tuesday, also got 16 points from Mikal Bridges and 14 from Jalen Brunson. Kris Jenkins added 10 points and nine rebounds in the game, which was played at the Real Madrid training complex.

Villanova ran out to a 52-36 lead at halftime but its opponent managed to trim the lead to 85-80 in the last minute before Hart broke free and caught a long pass for a dunk that sealed the win.

"Josh was dominant, by far the best player on the floor today," Wildcats coach Jay Wright said. "If that was a regular-season game, he probably could have had 40. We were trying some different things late. But when we needed a bucket, we went to him every time and he came through. Even more so than the points, I thought Josh was outstanding defensively and on the glass for us."

Wright played true freshman Dylan Painter, redshirt freshman Tim Delaney and sophomore transfer Eric Paschall for key minutes down the stretch and called it "a tremendous experience for us."
